Work Injuries

Cleaners, manual labour, sitting at a desk, it’s worth adding a page where people can read about ‘work-related injuries’ that could fit into another condition but this may related better to them – it’s also a way where you can subtly outline the types of people you’d like to see…

Treatment For Work Injuries

Particularly in Canary Wharf, work is often the cause for various issues, and at Canary Wharf Chiropractic we see a lot of back pain and neck pain that is due to prolonged sitting at desks.

Our bodies are not supposed to be sitting down for long periods of time. Evolution took us humans from being four-legged creatures to walking around on two legs, moving around and being mobile.

So by sitting we are doing something that our bodies are not very well suited to, and as a consequence we suffer the effects. Amongst various significant health issues associated with a sedentary lifestyle, people can develop neck or back ache, stiffness and pain simply because they do not move enough.

A bad workstation set up can put a lot of postural strain in the wrong places to contribute to the build up of stiffness and tension, sometimes resulting in acute pain.

But even a good workstation does not mean you won’t feel any of the ill effects of sitting too long. We sometimes say that even if you sit in a very good chair, with everything set up perfectly, it is still not as good as being mobile, so keep this in mind.

Additionally, with the increase in popularity of working from home, we realise that people are not moving as much as they used to. With no walk to the station as part of a commute, or popping out for your lunch break, it’s easy to see how a weekly step count might be much less than you used to do when coming into the office five days a week.

With this reduction in mobility, back and neck issues arise more readily, and it is important to compensate for too much sitting by keeping as mobile as you can and doing the right sort of exercise to mitigate the effects of a desk job.

When this isn’t enough to get you feeling how you want to feel, getting the right treatment and advice can make the difference. At Canary Wharf Chiropractic we are very familiar with dealing with conditions and situations such as these and we will aim to get you back to normal as soon as possible with a plan made just for you.

Aside from the effects a desk job can have on you, we know that Canary Wharf isn’t just home to people who work at a desk. We see a large number of people who have a physical job, which has its advantages over sitting down all day, but also carries the risk of injury.

Whether you suffer a sudden onset or back pain, or a gradual build up, or you are experiencing pain or discomfort of another sort, or an injury to a muscle or joint, we will assess your problem for you and tell you what we can do to help.
